Staying on top of the news is important these days. Especially in the tech world where one day your company is on top of the world and tomorrow your history. Here are a few of the best tech news sites out there:

For this post take a look at these sites and choose one article from one site about something that interests you and summarize it for our class. Talk a little about why you chose it as well. Please include a link to the article in your post.

ReplyDeleteI chose this article because I'm interested in the world of innovation. I think its cool how people create apps and try to improve the lives of other. I think that yummy and instacart teaming up is cool. Instead of spending money by ordering food, you can order ingredients and make your self a meal for less cost. This app is also creating jobs, it allows for a personal shopper to buy the ingredients the consumer needs at a grocery store. I'm a supporter of food so I can't wait to get this app.
That does sound interesting. Thanks Ana!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.livemint.com/Companies/td0AlYXOulgXbANmgvlnmM/Google-loses-most-US-search-share-since-2009-while-Yahoo-gai.html
ReplyDelete"Google’s slice of the US search market fell to 75.2% in December from 79.3% a year ago, while Yahoo jumped to 10.4% from 7.4%, according to analytics firm StatCounter." I chose this article because I think Google is the best search engine and I found it odd that Yahoo has replaced Google as the default search engine on Firefox browsers in the US. I don't like or use any other search engines; Google is just my preference. Firefox has been struggling to keep up with competing browsers so I guess this is fair for them. I doubt this will deeply affect Google but I think this is normal because all businesses compete against one another, so maybe this is just part of the "game".
The article I chose
ReplyDeletesorry for the mistake. The link I chose was: http://www.wired.com/2015/01/locales-rappers-name-check-visualized-robot/
DeleteI thought it was interesting in because the artist combined art and rap music to make a visualzing piiece. Hip hop is known for name dropping and lyrical. I thought it was also intersting because you can see the difference in each rapper for example Kendrick Lamar known for his album good kid m.a.a.d city is mainly on the left becuase he is from CA
http://techcrunch.com/2015/01/28/snaptags/
ReplyDeleteI chose the above article because I find that Snapchat is just finding any way possible to make money at this point (considering the fact that it is a free app to begin with). In my opinion, I find this Scan.me (Snaptags) to be a little sketchy and personally I wouldn't download it just for my own safety. If I had a Snapchat, I would rather add friends the long way by searching up their username in the search box. The fact that this app allows you just just point your phone at a certain spot and say "Point your Snapchat camera at this image" and you have a new friend automatically makes me feel as if my identity can be located by anyone and can just lead to spam within my account. I'd rather just keep my Snapchat to myself and my friends that I know well ONLY!

ReplyDeleteI chose this article because the name of it was very interesting. This article is about a woman who gets her wallet stolen along with her identity. The woman who stole her wallet pretended to be this woman. When the woman found the thief instead of turning her into the police or beating her up she decided to follow her and take pictures of her. She wasn't interested in the fact she stole her identity she just wanted to know why. I thought this was interesting because she turned her into art and she even wrote to her explaining why she was taking pictures of her. She even made a connection with the thief and saw it in a different way than some people would have. She saw it that the woman was struggling and she made a connection to her through that. I thought the article was interesting and it shows you that because of technology the woman was able to track her down because she was using her credit cards to check into places.
