Innovation of Loneliness

Before technology evolved into a social tool, communication was limited to rather primitive methods in comparison to today's methods. Consider this chart:
The cell phone wasn't adopted as a innovation until around the year 2000 and Social Media didn't break through until around 2005.
Today, everyone has a tool so powerful that few people that can live without it. However, little has changed about the world around us. Something is still missing. We are still plagued by wars, famine, poverty and in many cases more inequality than ever.
This past 180 days or so we toyed with two main themes, creativity and technology.
Each of you is an incredibly unique individual and you have more access and power at your fingertips than any generation in history. But, if everyone has access to the same technology and is using the same platforms, how are you going to stand out?

Since our society is highly advanced in technology, it can be extremely difficult at times to stand out amongst the billions of other people around you. However, there are ways in which we can make our own individual unique and different from the people surrounding us. One way to show our creativity and uniqueness could be by using these forms of technology that everyone possesses in a different way than others. For example, on social media websites, people can add filters to their photos, trying to make themselves look completely different from their actual physical appearance. To be unique, don't use a filter and show your natural self and personality to others. No this is not the only way to be unique and creative in the way in which you use technology, but it could be a starting point. Creativity, for the most part, is a personal preference and is meant to show a person's personality through what they do and they way they act. Anyone can come up with their own unique way in how they use technology to be different from their friends, but sometimes it just takes time to think about it.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that many people can't do without technology. But because our society is so centered around technology everyone needs to be connected and people need to be able in to get in contact with each other whether it's work, family, or school related. Since everyone is on technology by constantly sending e-mails, tweeting, texting, and "creating their profile online", people have less of a face to face conversation with someone and they suffer because of it. People tend to feel lonely because of it and the only way not to feel this way to get off technology but in the world we live in it is almost impossible for us to do that.
